Falling into Inspiration
I’m channeling inspiration from a special person in my life this fall. And it’s all about color!

Hi to all my MWA ladies!
I hope you are all having a fantastic week and staying extra motivated as we are closing out the end of the year. It’s hard to believe that it’s already fall, my favorite time of the year. Still, I don’t know about you, but I know that the sun setting at 6:00 has definitely been an adjustment for me!
Fall is when I tend to be inspired the most because of the sense of nostalgia it brings me. If you’re new around here you might not know this, but so much of my passion for becoming an artist comes from my family. I grew up in an artistic household, who have encouraged me to take risks and always express my creative side. When I was younger, most memories of my grandma are of her painting with careful, gentle strokes I always admired. We spent so much time together doing craft projects, and ever since, we’ve had a close bonded relationship centered around art. She taught me to appreciate the true beauty of all art pieces.
I know some of you will say the south doesn’t get as impressive fall seasons as New England, but even in Charleston, the changing colors of the leaves in fall and the mild weather have always allowed me to take note of the beauty in nature. Bright greens morphing into coopery autumn tones, fiery reds, and bright yellows. Recently, I went to NYC (picture above!), and the fall atmosphere was absolutely incredible. I also love the contrast cities like New York have between the “concrete jungle” and the greenery of the trees dotting the sidewalks.
Nature’s raw beauty is something that inspires me to paint, especially when using bright yellows and fall flowers (similar to a piece I’ve been working on for my friend Alli, pictures coming soon on Insta!) My Grandma always brought out the most beautiful colors in her art, which is what inspires me to do the same. Every time the seasons change and it starts to get cooler, she would always say to me, “When the weather gets cold, make art your blanket!” and I love to live by this and I’ll definitely be layering up this fall.
I hope you all are having a fabulous fall and I’m glad I could share some of my inspiration with you!
